Example: Corrected Calcium Calculation

Why Is Calcium Corrected for Albumin?
Albumin binds part of the calcium present in blood. When serum albumin is reduced, measured total calcium can also be reduced because the protein-bound fraction is lower.
This is the physiological basis for traditional albumin-correction equations.
